Through information and innovation, Baxa is working to make “best practice” better. Our PACT products and services integrate compliance training to enhance customers’ experiences with Baxa products. PACT includes the STAR Center® for expert training and development and CriticalPoint™ for comprehensive Web-based training.

Baxa focuses on products and services that promote and enhance pharmacy best practices and support compliance to the guidelines under USP <797> Sterile Compounding, the Department of Health and the Joint Commission.




THE SKILLS TRAINING, ACADEMICS AND RESOURCES (STAR) CENTER
The STAR Center is a stand-alone pharmacy process and environmental control training facility located at the Baxa Corporation headquarters in Englewood, Colorado. The Center offers high-quality, cost-effective professional development and networking opportunities. Baxa invested in the STAR Center because we believe that the best way for pharmacists and other professionals to understand and implement state-of-the-art standards of practice is for them to have practical, hands-on experience with expert trainers.

The STAR Center is the only purpose-built facility of its kind, featuring:
  • 836 ft2 positive pressure ISO 7 cleanroom
  • ISO 5 workbench; laminar flow hoods, Biological Safety Cabinets and isolators
  • 250 ft2 negative pressure ISO 7 hazardous drug preparation area
  • 300 ft2 instructional gowning area
  • 288 ft2 clean storage area
  • 110 ft2 supply intake room
  • Classroom facilities for 20 students
  • Subject-matter expert trainers

The Center’s focus is on improving pharmacy practice. Current classes include a hands-on USP 797 training seminar teaching the concepts of aseptic processing including appropriate material and personnel flow, and compliance to the USP 797 requirements for sterile compounding and hazardous drug handling program that covers safe practice in the context of regulatory and industry requirements and recommendations. Future courses will take advantage of the STAR Center’s unique cleanroom training environment to support a variety of professions and activities. In addition, STAR Center management is open to creation of unique curricula to meet identified needs of industry and provider participants. The facility is available on a lease basis also for professional training and development activities.

CRITICALPOINT COMPLIANCE TRAINING
CriticalPoint is a Web-based training solution for sterile preparations compounding and processes. It enables learning through technology in a clinical setting. CriticalPoint online modules represent a best- practice approach to interactive training for sterile compounding and USP <797> compliance. Its modules are designed to assist healthcare providers in meeting regulatory compliance and quality assurance program goals. The CriticalPoint curriculum provides step-by-step programs that build a solid skills foundation for pharmacists and technicians involved in sterile compounding activities.
