Return to Newsletter FYI: HELPING YOU COMPLY WITH BEST PRACTICE Recently, I had the chance to visit with Roger Williams and some of the members of his executive team at the United States Pharmacopeia’s offices in Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to share our commitment at Baxa to being a leader in helping our customers understand and comply with the USP <797> standards. The USP organization is a real gem in our country. Founded by an Act of Congress in 1820, they lead not only in the US, but are known worldwide for providing standards and reference material for the pharmaceutical industry and for the pharmacy profession. I would like to share with you a brief review of our plans, which I shared with them, to fully support you in your efforts to adopt this standard and attain the best standard of practice. Recently you may have received copies of one of our USP <797> Compliance Binders. These product-specific tools provide information on using Baxa equipment to comply with the requirements under 797. They feature extensive Policy & Procedure guidelines, competency-based testing tools and report forms for recording activities. This is step one and gets you what you need to have in order to comply with regards to our products. Our goal is to support your total efforts for USP<797> compliance. During the ASHP meetings in Las Vegas, we sponsored an Exhibitor's Theatre program entitled, "What's Next for USP <797>." The speaker, Eric Kastango, spoke to a standing-room crowd on the changes being proposed to the Chapter, following that with a discussion on moving from gap analysis to true compliance. We were delighted to provide a professional program designed to help you make the best decisions on compliance for your pharmacy. Copies of this paper will be available on CD through Baxa. Our in-house experts on cleanroom design and procedures, pharmacy practice and aseptic processing have assembled technical papers on USP <797> topics that can provide you with insights as to how to bring best practice into your pharmacy. These papers are available for download at www.baxa.com/OnlineHelp. Lastly, we are implementing a comprehensive training center at Baxa, which we believe will provide a totally unique venue for customers to receive training on meeting USP <797> and other industry guidelines and standards. We plan to make a full announcement on the opening of our STAR Center and the exciting training we will provide to customers in the next few months. We are pleased to help support your efforts to meet these important new standards and improve the practice of pharmacy. As always, feel free to contact me at greg.baldwin@baxa.com. ![]() Greg Baldwin, Chairman and CEO Back to Top Return to Newsletter |
