ENSURING MEDICATION SAFETY
Baxa specialty pharmacy products help you reduce dosing errors
Patient safety is a guiding principle for Baxa and ingrained in our corporate culture. Every product we develop or distribute undergoes multiple levels of safety validation to ensure you have the safest products available for your critical pharmacy applications.

Focusing on medication safety alone, Baxa provides hundreds of products designed to improve the processes of medication preparation, transportation and administration. Below are highlights of just of few of the specialty products available to help you ensure the safety of your pharmacy operations.

The new Baxa catalog highlights unique products designed to ensure the 5 Rights of Medication Administration: Right Patient, Right Route, Right Dose, Right Time, Right Medication.

PRODUCT LABELING. Many Baxa products are designed to clearly identify the dose and route for repackaged medications. With Mark-a-Dose™ Labels, any size syringe can be marked with the proper dose volume for patient self-administration applications. The Kwik-Vial™ Unit Dose System provides a convenient means to fill, seal and label oral liquid medications for individual doses.

TAMPER INDICATION. To ensure that doses are administered safely, Baxa supplies a complete line of tamper-indicating closures and seals. Seal add-ports on TPN bags and other IV solutions with rigid, non-reopening caps that protect contents from manipulation. Foil seals are available to provide an affordable means of tamper detection for other containers. IV and oral syringes can be sealed with tamper-indicating tip caps that leave signs that the product has been opened, thus assuring that narcotic substances remain intact, sterile products remain sterile and medications remain unadulterated.

RIGHT ROUTE. In additional to product labeling and transportation security, Baxa has developed a full line of route-specific syringes to prevent route administration errors. Dedicated Exacta-Med® Oral and Enteral Syringes incorporate special features and labeling to prevent confusion and ensure patient safety. Specialty dispensers for catheter, vaginal and topical applications offer providers the confidence that the correct administration route will be used consistently in their facilities.

Users in more than 45 countries have determined that Baxa patient safety initiatives meet or exceed their expectations. With this variety of product offerings, you and your colleagues can be confident that the intended dose, route and drug are administered as ordered.
