LOCK IN IV SAFETY
Introducing the PadLock Set Saver
The new PadLock Set Saver from Baxa is the first and only aseptic IV administration set storage solution that can be swabbed and re-used. PadLock provides a secure seal for the end of an administration set, preventing contamination when the set is not being used for infusion. The Set Saver permanently attaches to an IV administration set, replacing the need for multiple, sterile, single-use caps.

According to a recent ISMP Alert, “…it appears that some nurses are not considering the risk of contamination and may not be placing a sterile cap on the exposed tubing.”1 A published survey of more than 300 nurses found that greater than 40% of nurses find sets disconnected and uncapped at least one – two times per week.2 The PadLock Set Saver is designed to offer a safe, convenient and cost effective alternative to current practices with an ease of use which will facilitate better staff compliance.

With the PadLock, a secure cap is always available at the bedside for aseptic closure of the administration set. It facilitates good technique and helps prevent exposed administration sets, which can lead to line contamination.3 The PadLock minimizes the need to replace administration sets due to improper capping, potentially saving thousands of dollars per year in reduced IV complications and product replacement. Effective for multiple uses, the Set Saver also eliminates the use of IV administration set caps, a known choking hazard.
