FYI: PRODUCTIVITY AND COMPLAINCE TOOLS (PACT) FOR PHARMACY
For years, Baxa made its reputation on providing equipment and disposables that streamlined pharmacy operations – providing labor savings and patient safety through automation and improved practice. With the introduction of USP Chapter <797> we saw a need to be a leader in providing the tools and the training to facilitate compliance and greater productivity in a new regulatory environment.

We moved first to provide comprehensive training and compliance tools to support the effective use of Baxa hardware and software through our USP <797> compliance binders for Baxa products, but we could see that that alone was not enough. Customers told us that there was a need for comprehensive training in aseptic compounding and overall 797 compliance. Baxa developed the Skills Training, Academics and Resources (STAR) Center to provide ACPE-certified training in procedures and principles for USP <797> compliance and industry best practice.

With the success of the STAR Center classes, we’ve gotten feedback that there’s still a need for more pharmacy tools that promote productivity and compliance. At the recent ASHP Mid-Year Meeting in Las Vegas, Baxa introduced a new product line called Productivity and Compliance Tools, or PACT, to fill that gap. We see the PACT products as complementing our existing Baxa hardware, software and disposables products – providing a system for pharmacy operations management that builds on our experience and the knowledge of our customers and industry experts. In this issue, we introduce the MedBoard Medication Tracking System, a new order management software package for improving pharmacy efficiency and managing workflow.

MedBoard, along with our STAR Center classes for USP <797> compliance and the CriticalPoint Web-based sterile compounding training modules, provide the initial offering for Productivity and Compliance Tools.

With the pressure that all managers face in maintaining budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance and addressing labor shortages; we think these tools have a great value for health systems. It’s another way that Baxa Corporation’s pharmacy focus can provide benefits to you and your teams.

Take one of these new products for a test drive, or visit the STAR Center in Denver, Colorado. I’d love to know what you think.
