WHAT'S NEW AT THE STAR CENTER? Facility Design and Engineering Controls of USP <797> held its inaugural class in January 2008, with subsequent classes to follow in October and November. This course targets hospital facility managers, cleanroom architects and engineers, providing resources that allow everyone involved in the cleanroom construction process to understand and become educated with the USP <797> regulations and their implementation in the health-system environment. The Safe Handling and Preparation of Hazardous Drugs course gives anyone with access to hazardous drugs an in-depth understanding on how to properly handle and process these substances. Topics covered include engineering controls, proper use of closed system drug transfer devices (CSDTDs), procedures for handling hazardous drug spills, hazardous waste containment and disposal and regulatory compliance. Upon completion, participants will understand the principles for safe hazardous drug handling and how to incorporate these procedures into a pharmacy workflow.
